RISK ASSOCIATE, GLOBAL ASSET MANAGEMENT, TO £70,000 PLUS EXCELLENT PACKAGE, CITY

Our client is one of the world’s largest Fund Managers with offices in over 10 countries and manages US$1.98 trillion (as of 30 June 2007) for institutional and private clients around the World.   Recognising the differing financial needs and goals of investors, they provide unparalleled choice when it comes to investing, offering funds focusing on active, index and asset allocation strategies, liability driven investment, currency strategies, cash management, securities lending, hedging strategies, transitions, commodities trading and exchange traded funds.

They are currently looking for an experienced Risk Associate to join this growing team in a newly created role for Europe and Asia ex Japan.  Candidates should be from either an Asset Management or Consultancy servicing Asset Managers background, have excellent analytical and communication skills combined with an amiable personality and want to be part of a progressive, professional and team orientated environment.  A degree of flexibility is also necessary, as Risk Management techniques must adapt to changes within the Business.

Key Responsibilities

To actively assist the Head of Risk Management in implementing the Company’s risk framework

throughout their European business.

Responsibilities in co-operation with other team members will include:

  • Assisting in the implementation and on-going management of a Risk Assessment program.
  • Investigating, resolving and documenting operating errors and working with the business to improve process and procedure
  • Review and provide risk input to New Product proposals
  • Preparing Risk Management reports for local senior management and the Global Risk department
  • Providing consultative Risk Management services to the business
  • Providing risk review and advice to significant project undertakings
  • With other team members develop the Risk Training sessions
  • Lead the risk induction sessions for new joiners
  • Participate in Global & Group risk initiatives
  • Assist with the completion of the SAS70
  • Assist with regulatory capital calculations

Skills/ Experience Required

  • Experience working within operational risk in a financial services organization, ideally working for an investment management company or working as a consultant to the investment management industry is essential
  • Excellent analytical skills, including experience working with quantitative models, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions.  Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view.  Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change
  • Graduate level
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and an ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • To be proactive, have a consistency in approach and flexibility to engage in specific risk projects/reviews on a short term basis
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.  Strong organization and coordination capabilities
