ASSOC PORTFOLIO MANAGER, GLOBAL ASSET MANAGERS, UP TO £45,000 PLUS BENS, LONDON W1
Our client a major Global Asset Managers have an opportunity for a degree educated candidate with some experience within the financial sector and solid investment knowledge to join them as an Associate Portfolio Manager with the opportunity to learn across various teams whilst being based within Growth.
The Role
The prime objective of this role is to implement and maintain the investment strategies set out by the Portfolio Managers, in accordance with the investment guidelines and internal procedures. The candidate will be based in the Growth team but the role will also include cross training with the Value / Blend team.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Construction:
- Generate trade orders to implement the investment strategy set out by the Portfolio Manager, in accordance with client mandates and investment guidelines
- Generate sell or purchase orders to meet client withdrawal or deposit of new cash flows, under advice of management
- Monitor portfolio exposure and use futures to equitise cash
- Work closely with Portfolio Management, Trading and Operational teams to ensure all client account related events, such as account openings / closings, custody transfers etc, run smoothly and are completed correctly
- Undertake FX monitoring and order generation to cover security settlement and cash movements
Portfolio Monitoring:
- Ensure cash balances are consistent with product and investment guidelines (avoid overdrafts and excess long balances)
- Monitor equity portfolio position weights, highlighting any deviations from the model to management
Guideline Management & Compliance:
- Undertake a monthly compliance check to ensure client portfolio positions are within the product/client guidelines
- Review client guidelines and ensure both client and management / product level rules are coded in our pre-trade compliance system
- Consult with management and resolve any guideline exceptions prior to sending orders to trading desk for execution
- Review and resolve with management any “post trade” guideline exceptions (passive violations typically due to market changes) in timely manner
- Investigate, rectify and report on errors in accordance with Company error reporting procedures
- Maintain documentation of implementation process in accordance with compliance requirements
Other:
- Provide portfolio summary information to management as requested and undertake ad hoc requests and assist with projects where necessary
Skills / Experience required
- Substantial industry experience gained within the financial sector
- Degree in Maths, Economics, Finance related subjects
- Possess strong computer skills. Experience of Excel, Factset & Bloomberg would be an advantage
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail
- Team-orientated, proactive, enthusiastic and self motivated with a “can do” attitude and flexible manner
- Ability to solve problems and work well under pressure
- Good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
